Dream South D projects
-
Christmas Lights
Dream South D will be joining the community celebrations by providing Christmas lights and decorations to King Edward St businesses and community groups in the main shopping area. We'll also put up a bright Christmas tree, to help create vibrancy and that seasonal holiday spirit!
-
Halloween Fright Night on Ice
A fun evening event at the Ice Stadium, with a photo booth and spot prizes for best Halloween costumes. Dream South D will cover entry fees for all, so it will only cost $3 per person for skate hire!
Halloween Fright Night on Ice, 7:30 - 9:30pm, Saturday 2 November, Dunedin Ice Stadium

Garden Network
Community gardens are a fun way to grow fresh food, meet other locals, improve your gardening skills and help with food security in your community. There are several community gardens around South Dunedin - get in touch with one today!
-
Community Mural
A project in collaboration with the South Dunedin Street Art Trail and the amazing artists at Studio2 - we're loving the beautiful community street art they've made, that is now brightening up Rankeilor St!

Play Parks
Play Parks (based on Sport NZ’S Play Streets) are a fun way for everyone to play outside, be active, get to know each other, and promote better connected neighbourhoods. They’re about making connections – tamariki and rangatahi meeting others, whānau meeting other whānau, and neighbours meeting neighbours. And we supply all the fun equipment!

South D Spring Clean
DSD supplied free skips over two weekends so the South Dunedin community could get rid of that general household rubbish that often seems to gather about the place! A huge thanks to Cargill Enterprises, Al-Noor Charitable Trust, Ollie from Save Money Skips, and AJ and Matt from Cutlers and our volunteers, who were all really helpful in getting this organised. These events were so successful that we're planning to repeat them in the new year!
-
Community Noticeboards
In collaboration with our friends at the South Dunedin Community Hall, we present two brand new community noticeboards! Dream South D will be the caretakers of these boards, so if you have anything you'd like to share with the community, please bring your flyers or posters to our office at 183 King Edward St - we're just up the road from the Hall. (And if we're out, please just slide them under the door).
-
Community Plant Giveaway
A lovely project, where Dream South D supplied baby karo, kōwhai and tarata trees free to anyone in the South D community. They ended up in various new homes, from community groups spaces to local residents gardens. With thanks to our lovely plant growers at All Things Simple and to Tomahawk Smaills BeachCare Trust for connecting us!

Gasworks Market
A great little community market at a totally unique venue, the Gasworks Market is a lovely place to support local stallholders and community groups. This non-profit venture is resting over winter, but will be back with a bang in October. Click on the button for more info.

Heart and Soil Community Garden
In collaboration with Musselburgh School, the Dunedin Multicultural Council and quite a few other community groups, the Heart and Soil Garden has seen a real rejuvenation, helping to feed the local community with thier bountiful harvest and to show the kids the journey from seed to table.

Otago Polyfest
In 2023, we were honoured to be able to support Otago Polyfest during their 30th anniversary year, by providing kai for their kaimahi and doing a little bit of volunteering ourselves! We’re looking forward to helping celebrate with them again soon!
