Distance Markers along John Wilson Ocean Drive Launch
We’re excited to share the wonderful update and images from the launch we hosted for the distance markers on 25th November 2025.
We hosted a launch to celebrate the new Distance Markers installed along John Wilson Drive and invited three local early learning centre‘s - St Kilda Kindergarten, Punavai ole Atamai Preschool, and Little Citizens Early Learning Centre.
The event was attended by Plunket who provided helmets, fitting them for the children, and sharing important messages about road safety. Dream South D was excited to be able to donated scooters, balance bikes, and baby bikes to the preschools to support outdoor play and active lifestyles.
The Tamariki had a wonderful time and we loved sharing the day with them all!
Pop along to John Wilson Ocean Drive with the whānau and track your distance - these markers have been added every 100 meters along one side of the road and are double-sided, displaying the distance travelled in both directions.
The full route - from the bollards to the lookout and back - spans approximately 3 kilometres, making it perfect for walkers, runners, and anyone wanting to enjoy this much-loved coastal area.
We hope these new markers help you track your progress, set new goals, and stay active while taking in the beautiful scenery along John Wilson Ocean Drive.
