Return to Paradise Art Workshops with Ana Teofilo

Dream South D worked with talented local artist Ana Teofilo to deliver art workshop events to the community, this appealed to all ages and showcased art created by the community and the rich heritage of Polynesian motifs.  We learnt the stories behind the symbols and created a unique artwork to display in the Dream South D window.

Ana delivered 4 workshops over the weekend of 4th and 5th May 2025. These consisted of 2 workshops for adults and 2 for whanau. We worked with The Armitage who generously donated their space for us to hold the workshops.  

Each participant took their artwork home after the workshops. Those who had indicated they would like to contribute to the shared display were then invited to drop their pieces to the office.  We worked with an art mounter - ArtPort South to assist with the window display.  Ana assisted us to create the display, collating the artworks so they complemented each other and we installed some vinyl signage to tell the story of the artworks to passersby.

The workshops were very popular and the feedback during the workshops was overwhelmingly positive including, ‘Thank you, this has been a great experience to do as a family’, ‘Thank you so much, I just loved this workshop so much!’.
