Update - July 2024
It’s been a crazy productive month here at Dream South D HQ! Our Community Plant Giveaway was a great success, where we gave out 50 beautiful baby trees to local people and organisations, in a small effort to help greenly beautify our community. These little plants were grown by a local family under some pretty rugged coastal conditions, so will be right at home in South Dunedin 💚 The kōwhai were especially popular! This giveaway gave us a great chance to connect with people and chat about what they were going to do with their plants, so it had a really nice vibe to it.
We had 61 people come and visit our Open Day, which was another great chance for us to interact with our community and share a kaputī or 10! It was really lovely to chat with both locals and community organisations, and answer all the questions about who we are and what we’re doing here! If you’d like to catch up with the Dream South D kaupapa, have a look here - this is pretty much DSD 101.
Our wider DSD team (board and staff) have been busily coming up with some quick little projects over the last few weeks, that we can complete while our larger projects are still in the planning stages. We’re very excited about these ideas so watch this space for more over the next few months!
And lastly, a reminder about the Gasworks Market Remake Revolution fashion show competition. This challenge is to transform existing garments and fabric into something entirely new! The fantastic news is that they now have prize money to offer: Judges Choice $500, People's Choice $250 and Most Creative Outfit $250. Click here for more information and here to register.
