Community Feedback
During our community engagement phase, we collected a huge amount of feedback from the people who live, work, play, learn, shop and worship in South Dunedin. This related to many aspects of life here, and helped us create our Community Feedback Report, which led on to our Community Plan.
There was quite a bit of really relevant feedback that related to areas we couldn’t affect, but we felt that once the information had been shared with us, we were responsible for making sure that the right people heard it - closing the loop, in other words! Here are some of the things we were able to do, to make sure our community’s thoughts have been heard by the right people and organisations.

Otago Regional Council: Long-Term Plan Hearings
We were pleased to share the community feedback on public transport with the Otago Regional Council, as this is such an important issue for so many in our community - both getting into and around South Dunedin, and also to access the wider city. As a hub of many essential shops and services, we need to keep these accessible to all. Click here if you'd like to hear our submission, or any others from the wider community.

South Dunedin Library and Community Complex
Consultation and planning for the new South Dunedin library has been in the works for a while now, and we’re very excited to see the progress being made! We’ve received feedback and ideas from so many people about the library, especially around the use of the community space, so we’ve passed this on to the Dunedin City Council and relevant groups. Dunedin City Council: Council Hearings
We presented a submission to the Dunedin City Council on the draft Annual Plan 2024/25, based on feedback from our community. Much of this feedback was based on the need for free facilities for community groups to book and use for meetings, workshops, storage and other activities. Click here to see the hearing.

Marlow Park upgrade
The ‘Dinosaur Park’ is an area that’s super important to South Dunedinites of all ages, and that people from all across Ōtepoti Dunedin love! We were very keen to pass on the feedback we received about this playground as the DCC make plans for its redevelopment.

South Dunedin Future
Although water issues didn’t come up often in our engagement with the community, we’ve kept in contact with the team at South Dunedin Future, to pass on the feedback we did receive. We know it’s crucial for SDF’s goals that the channels for communication keep flowing in both directions as we all plan for the future. Image from the Dunedin City Council - click here for more info.
